june 24 ~ recap this weekend

this weekend... spent some time going to some local galleries....
thx karin for going with me on sat....

sunday... i went to the following exhibit at shek kip mei:

it is about the first/oldest communal/social housing in hong kong built in the 50's after the great fire that left many homeless in shek kip mei... to resolve the housing issue, these "H" plan apartments were constructed.... each unit was 120 sq.ft... and at the time housed 4-6 people... there was not enough room and many were even sleeping in the communal hallways and areas instead.... now.. afte 50-60 years, the housing department of hk has officially offered new social housing in the area for the residents here, and will commence demolishment of these constructions later this year.... i came here to see the photography exhibit displayed around the site... i think it was the perfect location for the photos... it was displayed right on the fence that now surrounds the building..... there's nothing better than having the site context as the backdrop/location for the exhibit... i think it made it even more touching... it only made sense.... this way u can understand the emotions inside the photographs so much more...
i cannot imagine what the exhibit would be like.. if it was on white walls in an air-conditioned gallery... so.. after an hour under the hot 30+ degree sun.... i was dehydrated.... went back to mtr station... and headed to find karin....

haha.. this was dinner... b4 that .. we were in mongkok... and then playing games at those chuck 'e' cheese like arcades.... then at dinner... we had fun with my baby...

look... its the same nite... and already i look like a different person...
i think a very sweet photo... the "pair" of chopsticks adds to the sweetness... (very symbolic... like one of those photos wedding photographer would take)
haha... this one... poor waidy... (even i feel sorry for him.... muahahaha)

Jun 19 ~ ocean park

June 16 ~ family gathering ~ tst ~ dinos

saturday morning filled with surprises:
first a family lunch with the wanchai neighbourhood committees... my aunties, yee yee... cousin ... and grandma... (a very interesting, and unexpected lunch)
then taking the boat over to tst to meet karin... such a beautiful day...
in front of harbourcity, the pandas on display for celebration of july 1st (10th year of return)
a classic hk meeting place... (i wonder how many times my parents met up under here?... hehe)
the onto science center... (packed day huh?)... and this is where dino's meet modern giant - the plane.... i love this pic... somewhat ironic

june 12 ~ recap last friday

last friday... i had some fun with karin.. and my baby ...
she was good to it... i will let her play with it some more...we were in tst.. where u see the best view of hk... and.. i showed karin some stuff... she wanted to learn some photography skills...
it wasnt a good day for photo shooting..plus i had no tripod for night shooting...

so.. we did what we can... i hope she learnt some stuff... my baby wasnt behaving... haha... one thing bad about DSLR is that it really is like a baby... it can be quite unpredictable when it wants to be....

so here's a shot ... test shot... of what happens under florescent lighting... at night.. with a foreground.. and backgound... not the perfect time for portraits!!! ... haha

but.. with a little photoshop... karin still has a cute smile...
and. here... well... u know who took it...(congratulate her).... we stood in front of harbourcity for 1/2 hour... while so many ppl passed by us... staring.....i did do some recropping in photoshop... but its a good pic... other than the fact that i cannot pose... (karin.. next time.. we find other ppl to pose for us... i'm the teacher.. not the model!!)

june 11 ~ bored at work....

it was a dreadful weekend... raining mostly...
saturday was ok... i woke up early to meet grandma for morning tea "yum cha"... then head to visit (bai) my grandma/grandpa (dad side).. was a long bus ride.. in hk standards... all the way to the end of the line...

then after "bai bai"... went down to diamond hill mtr station to visit a chinese style park beside a temple.... grandma wanted to see it... it was nice... modern classical chinese garden.. with rocks/trees/pond/fish... there were so many fishy... so big... so cute...

not much else that day.. went to a few other places with grandma to browse and buy food for dinner... sunday was rain/lightning... stayed home to watch movies, nap till dinner time...

now its monday.. sigh.. bored at work again... i found this new site:

june 6 ~ a few new links

i've finally found some time to update the links on the right... i've added a few new ones... and deleted those that arent updated!!!

many have abandoned blogging.... probably for something else like facebook... (fine with me)

june 4 ~ routine life in hk.....

hehe.. now that work has started... life has become a routine...

during the work week my evenings compose of visiting grandma for dinner... always so yummy.... meeting up with some friends.... eat at home with yee yee & family.... or.. in office overtime (OT)....

here... grandma... always so busy... so many phone calls... (she gets more calls than i do lor)

so.. weekends are practically my only free time... last friday... i finally met up with mary and curtis for dinner!!! (sorry mary... u had to meet my crazy friends through such occasion)... i hope they didnt scare u.... i'm so happy we met up.. we have to see each other more often... and just hang out... (yes.. karin/waidy/don: the family trio was there scaring mary and curtis)

oh.. and today.... june 1st... mabel's birthday!!!! (happy birthday!)

ok... so.. sat morning began with a wake up call from grandma... to go "bai san".... here we are below: recognize it?... its "gong gong's"... who took the pic.... haha... (uncle joseph, i wouldnt bring camera... but.. now that he took it... i'll post lor)
then... sat afternoon began with lunch at central with old family friends.... a girl named karen chan... she's one day younger than me... it was nice to see her... hope i see her lots this summer..., then... onto my 3rd meal in one morning... with karin and waidy.....it was lots of fun... havent had so much fun just hanging out.. and having dinner ... seems like i've known then forever!!! (i'll inquire about the tea ... haha)

sunday:... tuen muen... to visit "sam yee por"... just eat lunch with her... and visit her... it was sooo hot... i was so tired.... cute huh?
this is even cuter.... (grandma is older.. yet... she's sooooo healthy...)... she's the one carrying her sister.... (b4... they were holding hands... it was so cute... i wasnt fast enough with the camera)

that night.. dinner with "mei lai yee".... mom's best friend....
thats another week... what to come this week?... hehe... more fun of course!
