Aug 18 - Stanley, HK

yesterday... was a fine day outside... after all the rain for the past 2 weeks... a day of sun and sweat...
i decided i needed a walk to calm the storm building up inside me, i headed to stanley for an ocean breeze:

robin had recommended the stanely recreation/community center for recent architecture, so that was where i headed... not knowing exactly where it was... i enjoyed the scavenging....
the first image i took: ... the first feeling i had seeing this building was... ando.. from the concrete ties work... then as ando is influenced greatly by corb.... this image evoked corb... ronchamp/la tourette!...
this one... even more... if u look at my romchamp chapel pics... you'll find similarities... (but in this pic.. i edited out something... you'll see in the pic below)
here.. i've highlighted what i have removed.... (it was a bad location of the spy cam... )

what i also love is the use of materials and colors... (very cheery... )
some of the details is even scarpa like...
this one is very (villa savoye - corb)
and this one too... the rooftop garden.. the framing of views ... the constant reminder/revisit/interweaving... makes it a very pleasurable journey going through the building
this... is very la tourette... like the entry into the church/chapel at la tourette.. how the door is framed... the descend...
so... its a rather lovely building... surprisinging by the hk government...good spatial dynamics... integration of public/private spaces... good usage of site... good details... a valuable public building....
other sides of stanley:

it was a hot day... .. very very sweaty :P
